Natural Beauty
The area is characterized by its green landscape since, on the majority of its 20km of coastline; pine trees grow all the way down to the beach.
The main beach covers the town’s waterfront and sprawls all the way to Porto Carras. Also, around Neos Marmaras, there are many small and scenic bays such as Paradisos and Azapiko, some beautiful, isolated beaches and a group of small islands, ‘Spalathronisia’.
All beaches undergo regular controls and are blue-flagged by the E.U. Visitors may reach most of the beaches either by car or by boat.
Another place definitely worth a visit is the island of Kelyfos, an islet that looks like a turtle from afar. Its only inhabitants are wild goats but it is widely known for its spectacular seabed, which underwater photographers call a ‘diver’s paradise’.
